For all ye, die-hard, chinese cuisine fans, here's some good news. Uncle's Kitchen has started its new restaurant at Sunder Lane, Behind St.Anne's High School, Malad west.
The trend for Chinese food started well before 17-18 years, and now that it has become a craze you see a stall or a small restuarnt opening it's business by serving Chinese food. But it was way back before 25 years that a humble UNCLE started his kitchen at the less frequented Catholic area of Mith Chowki in Malad and served the best chinese food.
The quality, taste and quantity of the food served was so good that Uncle's Kitchen got famous by word of mouth and people thronged to it. Later in about 1994-1996 Gujaratis took to eating Veg Chinese food and Uncle's Kitchen became a HIT and came to be known lovedly as UK.
Circa to 2008, with the muncipality's raod widening project UK had to give up the corner at Mith Chowki and look out for some other place. However in the last 25 years, it was losing it's sheen due to poorly lit interiors and outdated/old cutlery. But they have bounced back, with a new place right in the heart of catholic area of Malad, with better interiors, new cutlery and well lit sitting arrangements and friendly services.
As is the trend with UK --- their menu is better than others in terms of offering as well as its prices. Sample the FRIED RICE ---- which will cos you atleast Rs.60/- at a not so decent restaurant and Rs.75/- upwards at a decent one, at UK's it will cost just Rs.48/-. And what shall I say about the quality, you can even make out the quality by just having a look at the Chilli Sauce being offered, it's so rich and good in taste ---- that it puts it opposite door competitor to PREM's to shame [where Chilli Sauce is more like orange colored water]
However UK have reduced a bit on the quantity, but I guess that is fair to cover up the cost of new infrastructure and the rising inflation. UK has also secured the first floor, and now it will be a restaurant spread out in 2 floors. So, if you like chinese food, make sure you do not miss out on UK.
